Our charity grant programmes

Welcome to The Florence Foundation’s grant programmes.

We fund charities tackling poverty, food insecurity and pet welfare across the North West—supporting practical initiatives such as food banks, pet food banks and pet adoption.

Together, we are delivering real impact in our communities.

Types of grants we offer

We deliver targeted funding across the North West, focused on areas where it makes the greatest difference.

Grants for animal welfare and pet rescue

We fund practical work that improves animal welfare and supports pet adoption—giving more pets the chance of a safe, stable home.

Dogs Eating Treats

Grants for pet food banks

We fund the development of pet food banks alongside community food banks.

At a time of rising cost pressures, this helps families keep their pets—reducing abandonment and protecting both animal welfare and wellbeing.

Grants for poverty relief charities

We fund practical initiatives that tackle both the causes and consequences of poverty—supporting people through financial hardship and helping them regain stability.

Community Food Packing

Grants for food banks and food pantries

We fund charities providing access to nutritious food for people in need.

We also support the addition of pet food banks alongside existing services—helping families keep their pets. We can guide you on how to implement this.

Grant eligibility and process

Our application process is simple and efficient.

Applications are submitted online via a single form, capturing everything we need to assess your request.

Trustees meet twice a year, with grants typically paid within 2–3 weeks of a decision.

1. Do your research first

Read our grant-giving policy before applying—it outlines all requirements.

Applications must be based in, or delivered within, the North West of England to be considered.

File will be downloaded

2. Apply on line

Apply online using the “Apply” button.

Applications are accepted via this route only.

The more clear and detailed your submission, the stronger your application will be.

3. Grant evaluation and decision

Trustees meet twice a year—in June and November.

Deadlines are published on our website.

Follow us on Facebook or check the website regularly to stay up to date on application deadlines and decision dates.

4. Grant approval

Every application is reviewed carefully, with decisions communicated within one week of the trustee meeting.

5. Implement the grant

Grants are typically expected to be spent within six months, although longer timeframes can be agreed where appropriate.

We will work with you to set a clear timeline, ensuring funds are used effectively before evaluation.

6. Post grant evaluation

We look forward to seeing the impact you deliver.

A short evaluation is required as part of the grant—helping us measure outcomes and showcase the difference made.
