Grants recently awarded

In June our trustees met to review 64 applications applying for over £515,000 of grant funding, the highest level since our inception.  It was a difficult task but our trustees reviewed every application and have been able to award a record number of grants to fantastic charities across the North West.  Here are a just a few of the organisations we are supporting.

The Big Food Project in Blackpool

In partnership with The Big Food Project in Blackpool, we have provided funding to help maintain their fleet of vans.  These vans are at the heart of the organisation enabling them to collect and redistribute food via their network of 125 partner organisations.  These vans help deliver 900,000 meals with the support of a small team of staff and 20,000 hours of volunteer support

Netherton Community Garden

The Netherton community garden project donates fresh food that is grown in their community gardens.  One of the biggest issues they faced was their facilities did not have a direct electricity connection, which reduced their ability to function fully.  We have been able to support this project with a grant that will pay for an electricity connection that will enable them to store more produce to donate and sell as well as store food that is used in community meals or processed into preserves.

Further more it will enable them to increase their capacity to host events becoming a site that the community can use throughout the year.

Silk Cat Rescue

Silk Cat Rescue is based in Poynton in Cheshire.  They applied for funding to support the creation of a pet food bank at the local Poynton Community Larder.  Our funding will enable them to fund supplies for the pet food bank, ensuring pets can stay with their owners during times of financial crisis.  Keeping pets with their families is the best way to reduce the challenges faced by rescues.
